See your shot. Know your game.
Your book of every lane, every leave, every line, and what to try next.
Beta v2.8.0 · build 250 · Updated Nov 7
Set your line.
Where you stand, the arrow you hit, where it breaks. Move any of them and ShotLab redraws your whole shot down a real lane, feet to pocket. Set it once and it holds frame to frame.
Then just bowl.
Strike, spare, or the pins you left: you tap it in and ShotLab keeps score. Then one quick question: did you hit your mark? Your line stays on the lane.
Every leave gets a line.
Leave the 10 and ShotLab draws the spare line for it. Pick up your spare ball, go straight across the lane. Save it for that leave and it's your line next time.
Ask your coach.
Ask about a leave that keeps beating you, your last game or your next ball. Coach reads what you bowled and answers with your own numbers, then gives you one thing to try next time.
Opening to beta testers a few at a time.

Questions about ShotLab.
What does ShotLab track?
Your line (where you stand, the arrow you hit, where the ball breaks), every move you make, the result of every frame and the pins you left, the lane and the pattern you bowled on, which ball you threw, and the stats that add up from all of it: average, strike and spare percent, and how often you make each leave.
Do I enter shots myself?
Yes. ShotLab doesn't watch the lane or track the ball with a camera. After each shot you tap the result (strike, spare, or the pins left) and answer one quick question about your mark. It takes a few seconds a frame, so you stay in the game.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes. Tap Start bowling and it runs in your browser. Sign in with Google when you want your games saved to your account and there on your next phone.
How do Coach invitations work?
Ask Coach is opening to beta testers a few at a time. Join the beta and pick "I want to test" and you're on the list. You'll get an email when it's your turn. Signing up doesn't unlock Coach right away.
How do I give feedback?

Questions bowlers ask.
The ones I asked too, and how ShotLab helps.
Why does my ball hook more after the first game?
The oil moves as everyone bowls. The front of the lane dries up, so most nights the ball starts reading earlier and hooking more. Sometimes oil gets pushed down the lane and it skids instead. ShotLab saves your line frame by frame, so you can see what changed and when, instead of guessing.
When should I move, which way, and how far?
When good shots start missing the pocket, move. If you're right handed and the ball is hooking too much, move left; not enough, move right. Lefties do the opposite. Start small, a couple of boards with your feet and a little less with your target. ShotLab keeps the line you played in every frame, so next week you start closer.
Why does my ball hook on one lane and not the other?
No two lanes are the same, and they break down differently as the night goes on. It's easy to forget where you were standing on the lane that hooks. On a lane pair, ShotLab keeps a separate line for each lane, and you can set a ball for just one lane. Come back to the left lane and it shows where you stood and what you threw there.
Should I move my feet or switch balls when the lanes change?
Try moving first. If you've moved a couple of times and the ball still hooks too much or not enough, try a different ball. ShotLab tracks every ball in your bag and shows how each one has scored.
Why do I keep leaving the 10 pin?
If you leave the 10 a lot, the ball is usually hitting the pocket a little high or a little light. Picking it up is where a hook hurts: throw it straight across, and many bowlers use a plastic spare ball that won't hook. ShotLab draws a spare line for every leave and saves it, and shows how often you see each leave and how often you make it.
Should I look at the arrows or the pins?
Most bowlers aim at the arrows, about 15 feet past the foul line. They're closer and easier to hit than the pins. The dots on the approach are for where you stand. In ShotLab you set your line the same way: where you stand, the arrow you hit, and where the ball breaks.
How do I raise my average?
Make more spares. It's the fastest way for most league bowlers, faster than more strikes. ShotLab shows your average, strike and spare percent, and every leave you've seen and made, so you know exactly what to work on.
